1 Curriculum
Class VI to IX is given a firm footing to face the world at large. English language, Mathematics, General science, Life science, Social science, Hindi, Sanskrit and Computer science are well integrated and the children understand the concepts thoroughly.
The teaching is supported by experiments in laboratories and the children are given additional coaching if needed. Continuous evaluation focuses on communication, critical thinking, problem solving and collaborative learning skills.
The Middle School /Checkpoint curriculum at AWS provides natural progression from Primary and develops children's knowledge and skills in Mathematics, English and Science. Middle school offers a curriculum framework for educational success for learners, typically for 11-14 years old.
2 Assessment & Evaluation
From VI the school follows the ICSE Curriculum system of evaluation.
Education Methodology
Academic World School realises the importance of the preschool years in a child’s development. We aim to provide a caring, happy, stimulating and inspiring environment in which all children feel safe and secure, where children are encouraged and motivated to work to the best of their ability to achieve the highest standard of which they are capable. We aim to do this by:
- Providing an environment which offers purpose and challenge & where the children are free to explore, imagine, create and interact with the staff and other children.
- To ensure a high standard of behaviour and discipline in which pupils are able to develop self-discipline, a strong sense of moral values, respect for another’s values, cultures and religion.
- Providing a bias free curriculum thereby enabling all children to have access to the full curriculum irrespective of gender, ability, culture and social background.
- Providing adequate resources and educational facilities appropriate to the child’s age and stage of development.
- Providing a broad and balanced range of experience to enable each child to develop emotionally, intellectually, physically, morally, socially, culturally and creatively.
- Providing an ideal teacher-student ratio of 1:14 so that teachers can spend plenty of individual time with the children, this is essential in such a free setting as ours.
- Providing child friendly equipment & creating a child safe environment which does away with separation anxiety.
- Closely monitoring children’s progress, providing regular reports and consultations with the parents.
- Recognizing the importance of play as an important tool in teaching & using it effectively.
- Using dramatisation as a technique of teaching & imparting concepts.
- Creating a unique eclectic approach which borrows from the different styles of learning such as Montessori Method, Reggio Emilia, Pestallozie makes the curriculum holistic & enriched.
